The Story Behind Summer ‘25: Field of Us

The Meaning Behind “Field of Us”

KORELIMITED’s Summer ‘25 collection, Field of Us, explores the emotion and imagination of a first love. The title evokes the dreamlike idea of being alone in an open field with someone you admire—a personal, quiet moment that exists only in memory or wishful thinking.

Inspired by Korean College Culture

This season is inspired by the unique atmosphere of Korean college culture. In South Korea, entering university is a major life milestone—often seen as the beginning of adulthood and new freedom. Many young Koreans dream of becoming what’s known as “CC,” or "Campus Couple”—a romantic relationship that begins on campus, often idealized in TV dramas, songs, and fashion. These relationships are associated with walking through tree-lined campuses, studying in libraries together, and sharing coffee under cherry blossoms. It’s a cultural narrative that blends innocence, hope, and youth—and it's something distinctly different from Western college life.

A Surreal Setting: The Mother-of-Pearl Armoire

To visualize this dreamy atmosphere, we placed a traditional Korean mother-of-pearl armoire (najeonchilgi) in the middle of a vast field. Once a common fixture in older Korean homes, this ornate piece represents delicate craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Its unexpected presence in nature creates a surreal contrast—symbolizing the impossibility of certain emotions, like a love that exists only in our imagination.

Blending Tradition with Modern Design

Drawing from this setting, we crafted our collection around school-inspired visuals: collegiate fonts, varsity silhouettes, and logo placements that reference university emblems. To root it in our heritage, we infused traditional Korean patterns—subtle design elements drawn from historical art forms like najeonchilgi. If you look closely at the patches and trims on our shirts, hats, and tees, you’ll notice these patterns woven into the graphic identity of each piece.
